Yahoo News↗ is the most visited news platform in the United States with a little over 180 million monthly users. With their recent acquisition of the AI-news app Artifact, they're looking to breathe life into their mobile app experience.
My team at Berkeley Innovation↗ was challenged to see what makes Gen-Z tick when consuming news, and design novel features for the Yahoo News app that would make it a key part of Gen-Z media habits. Our resulting Badges and Streaks feature was presented to senior design leadership; designs were implemented into Yahoo News App in 2024 Q2 to 185m+ monthly users.
